The Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis association is delighted: WAGNER employees and the company collected 30,000 euros in their Christmas donation campaign for people with intellectual disabilities in the Lake Constance district! Money that the non-profit association can now use freely for its protégés without any restrictions. Many good ideas are already waiting to be implemented.

For the fourth time, the company J. Wagner, based in Markdorf, organized a Christmas fundraising campaign, in which employees and their company donate together to do good in the region. Remaining vacation days, overtime, cash and transfers from employees flowed into the donation pot, which was then topped up to a round sum by the management.

Veronika Daue, Chief People Officer Decorative Finishing & Central Functions, emphasized at the press conference on the donation handover at Josefs: "The voluntary work of Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis shows how important solidarity and social cohesion are. Therefore, I am very pleased that we are able to hand over a donation of 30,000 euros to Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis today, which was made possible in large part by the great commitment of our employees. Initiatives like this make a real difference, and we're proud to be able to make a difference together as a company. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this donation."

In the four years since the start of our annual fundraising campaign, we have already donated around 215,000 euros in the region, which will benefit the region: The first donation went to the Kinderstiftung Bodensee e.V., the second to five food bank associations in the Lake Constance district, the third to four hospices in the region and the fourth now to the Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis e.V.

Norbert Kiwatsch, 1st Chairman of the Board of Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis e.V., said at the presentation of the symbolic donation cheque: "Disability rights are human rights. Lebenshilfe takes a stand against discrimination and exclusion. Disability is the enrichment of human diversity. True to the motto "Nothing about us without us!", we give these people a voice and stand up for the cultural change from care to free self-determination.

Inclusion and participation cost money, a lot of money, but people with disabilities are entitled to this according to UN law and is not a voluntary service. In doing so, I deliberately focus on people with severe and multiple disabilities. If it suits this group of people, then it fits all the more for everyone else. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. There is still a lot to do, let's move forward together!"

About Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis e.V.

Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis e.V., which currently has 335 members, is a non-profit parents' association that is actively committed to the interests of people with intellectual disabilities and their relatives based on the idea of self-help. All offers are carried out by volunteers. The focus is on the design of leisure activities for people with intellectual disabilities of all ages. This includes not only offers for sports and leisure in the group, but also courses on various topics. Events such as the "Dance into May", the summer party and an Advent coffee are very popular, but also excursions that are regularly organized. Even vacation trips are on the program. In addition, there is individual assistance for relatives with questions about applications to authorities, financial support or social law issues. Here, Gabi Müller and Stephanie Wolf, the only full-time employees, give tips for the "fight against the windmills of bureaucracy". A new project is the "JuLe", which means Junge Lebenshilfe, which offers parents of children with a mental disability the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas in the rooms of Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis. In this way, a functioning network of parents is to be further expanded.

Lebenshilfe Bodenseekreis e.V. is located in Friedrichshafen and has two branch offices in Neufrach and Tettnang. There are currently six rehabilitation sports and eight leisure groups that are attended weekly, usually in the evenings after work. A total of about 200 participants register for the various offers per year and are accompanied by almost 80 volunteers.
