Ede opted for the FinishControl 3500. It is very well suited for small projects. Thanks to its exceptionally high atomisation performance, it produces a fine and even spray pattern.
Before he can start painting, a few preparation steps are required:
Step 1: Remove dust and dirt from the radiator. For models like the one in Ede’s example, the top cover can be removed. This makes it possible to clean the inside of the radiator with a vacuum cleaner.
Step 2: Mask off everything that should not be coated. Protective films that adhere electrostatically to walls and floors are particularly practical here.
Step 3: To degrease the radiator, Ede uses a cleaning agent (an “Anlauger”). Simply spray it on and wash it off again after a 10-minute exposure time (application may vary depending on the product used).
Step 4: Sand the surface with a coarse 100-grit sanding pad. Then remove all dust thoroughly.
And then it’s finally time to start coating:
Ede uses a heat-resistant PU radiator paint from Dinova for the coating. The material should always be stirred well before being poured into the spray device’s container. Always spray at a consistent speed and at a right angle to the radiator.
After being coated with the XVLP spray device, the radiator looks as good as new. Ede is delighted with how easy it is to achieve an even finish – try it for yourself!
